Immediately after having a baby your pre-pregnancy clothes are not going to fit. A great addition you should add to your postpartum wardrobe is postpartum leggings. Postpartum leggings are comfortable and flattering making them perfect for postpartum.
The best postpartum leggings will make you never want to take them off. They often come with pockets to keep your phone on hand; never know when you will want to snap another picture of your baby. They help to conceal your midsection and feel positive about yourself.
The best part of postpartum leggings is that they are very affordable and come in many designs and colors! I personally own many pairs and live in these pants after having all three of my babies, so far!
Runner Up Best Winter Postpartum Leggings
Postpartum leggings are comfortable, soft and help to compress your midsection. These types of leggings are often made by yoga and outdoor companies.
These leggings are meant to stretch and are made of a thick material so you have no concern of them being see-through.
In your postpartum time you want your clothes to be comfortable and help to conceal your larger body shape, think contour your body. It will take time for you to get back to your pre-pregnancy shape and sometimes you won’t fully get back; that is okay too!
We just spent 9 months growing a human being and right now is the time to be kind to ourselves and marvel about what our bodies just did. And of course enjoy the new baby that is now part of your family.

Hopefully someone told you that you will not automatically be back to your pre-pregnancy shape. This will take time and for 6-8 weeks your stomach will still appear as if you are pregnant as your uterus will need time to shrink.
“From the moment your baby is born, hormonal changes cause your uterus to contract, shrinking it back to its pre-pregnancy state. It takes six to eight weeks for your uterus to return to its normal size. All the cells in your body that swelled during pregnancy begin to release the extra fluid, which is eliminated from your body through urine, vaginal secretions, and sweat.”BabyCenter Article
After you give birth you want to be comfortable, you don’t want to be trying to squeeze into jeans or have your self confidence hit a low spot when you realize nothing but your pregnancy clothes fit.
Here is where postpartum leggings come in! They are comfortable to wear after having a baby, help control your midsection and are flattering to be seen in. I promise no plumbers crack with these leggings!
You will be able to bend down, feed the baby, slowly start walking and not have to worry about changing pants or constantly pulling your pants up. And the best part is that postpartum leggings don’t cost that much money!
All my top choices for postpartum leggings are below. I find myself mainly wearing postpartum leggings for the first year after each of my children are born.
If you have a C-section I would suggest you purchase a pair where the waistband goes above the belly button! I had 3 C-sections and the last thing you want is material rubbing against your incision.
Phisockat leggings have the best price and quality. You can buy a single or packs of 2. Leggings feature a high compression waist that falls above your belly button, some leggings will fall just below your belly button.
The Phisockat leggings have 3 pockets, 1 inner and 2 lower outer pockets. have an arc line around your butt to add lift to your butt.
The material (77% polyester, 23% spandex) does feel the softest of all the leggings I suggest and they are non-see through and provide a 4 way stretch. The polyester material helps make the leggings moisture control and thet dry quickly. I could wear these leggings all day, and normally do!
The company also provides a 30 day guarantee.
People magazine has even written an article and shared the below quote from a customer
"Best leggings I've found in a while.... These leggings are ridiculously comfy and have the perfect compression for working out in. I don't know if I will ever go back to high-end name brands again!" wrote a shopper who compared the quality of the pair to Lululemon and Gymshark. "They have a soft feel to them, not buttery, but soft enough where they feel cozy."People Magazine Article
I 100% agree, these leggings have a buttery soft feel to them. Almost like wearing a pair of pajama bottoms!
Fengbay postpartum leggings is a close second and amazing value for money. The leggings feature a high waist with tummy control to contour your curves and provide a more slimming appearance. The pants come just shy of covering my belly button.
Leggings are offered in many colors and a couple patterns in full length or capri length and in multi packs. You will have a large selection to chose from.
The leggings come with 3 pockets, an inner pocket and two outer pockets for your convenience. The inner pocket is smaller and meant for a key or money, your phone does not fit here.
The material used (87% Polyester 13% Polyurethane) is designed to remove moisture from your body through sweat absorption and drying capabilities) and has interlocking seams to eliminate chafing. The material is more lightweight and best for summer postpartum or early fall and late spring.
The company provides a 30 day return policy which should give you peace of mind.
Ewedoos, a yoga and activewear company, offers a great postpartum legging. The high waist comes above the belly button and has elastic tummy control for your slimming effect. I love wearing these leggings when I run and starting to get back in shape after having a baby.
Ewedoos leggings have 3 pockets as the previous two brands. What I love more about Ewedoos is that the outer pockets are a touch higher on the pants than Phisockat and Fengay leggings. It holds my phone better when walking and running.
The leggings are offered in both capri and full length and in many different colors. However, not as many colors and designs as other brands.
Similar to Phisockat’s material the Ewedoos material is 75% polyester and 25% spandex making a nice soft-feel legging. Besides wearing these for active wear, I am more than happy to wear them all day long!
90 Degree by Reflex, a yoga speciality store, has a postpartum legging perfect for colder weather. These leggings are thicker than the others I mentioned and a great option for winter postpartum leggings.
The leggings are high waist with compression. Like the Fengbay, I find these leggings sit just below my belly button rather than above.
The leggings are made from 87% nylon and 13% spandex which makes the leggings thicker and warmer than other leggings I mention.
The leggings have an inner pocket built into the waistband, but no outer pockets. For you non-pocket lovers this should be your pick!
One thing the company does offer is a high waist tummy control in shorts as well as pants. For anyone looking for a shorter length than capri for warmer weather this is a great option!
Another great option for winter postpartum leggings is Dragon Fit compression leggings for only a touch higher price than 90 Degree by Reflex.
Unlike the other options this pair of leggings has a back pocket hidden in the waistband instead of a front pocket. It has no other pockets on the pants for those non pocket lovers!
The high waistband comes just below the belly button and has compression features to hold you in. The material is 88% nylon and 12% spandex which provides the thicker quality of these leggings.
The leggings are designed to provide a hug- like sensation and that is exactly what you need after having a baby.
Dragon Fit offers a 30 day guarantee to ensure its customer is happy with its purchase.
These leggings won’t just get used immediately after having a baby. All these options are great for workout pants and especially yoga pants or don’t forget your lazy day hanging around the house.
I would recommend buying a new pair for just after birth, if you already have them. The tight compression right after having a baby is worth it. If you were wearing the leggings before you gave birth you might have stretched out the high waist. You will want a new pair to provide the best compression afterbirth.
